In 2009 I was visiting my best friend from high school and we got into a discussion about spirituality. She looked at me and said “I feel like you have the gift of healing”. I was puzzled. I was a graphic designer, working for the Federal Government. I had a degree in Art and Art History. How was that tied to healing? While I liked to help people, I had no idea what she was talking about. She then said “have you ever heard of Reiki?” I had not, but I was intrigued. I think I looked it up once and then just kind of tucked that conversation away in my memory. A year later after a move to another state, I saw a sign outside of my new chiropractor’s office that said “Reiki”.
Intrigued again, I picked up a brochure, then made an appointment. It was wonderful. I had this feeling of the energy in my body moving freely for what felt like the first time in years. I kept going for treatments and also took my youngest son to my practitioner. Eventually she said to me, “would you like to learn Reiki for yourself?” Twice now I’d had this healing modality suggested to me. As I listened to the outside suggestions and the ever growing inner call to help others, I decided it was time to take the leap.
I completed my Level 1 and Level 2 trainings in Usui Reiki in January and May of 2011. I then began practicing Reiki regularly; on myself, my friends, and my family. I eventually started taking clients and later finished my Reiki Master/Teacher training. After practicing Reiki for a number of years, I had the desire to deepen my quest for personal healing in my own life, as well as to expand my tools to help others find their peace. Through this searching, I found Hypnotherapy. I have experienced and now know great healing changes in my life from my personal Hypnotherapy sessions in addition to Reiki. Because of how wonderful the clarity and peace I gained in my life was, I became a certified Hypnotherapist. (see my website www.progressive-hypnotherapy.com)
I enjoy working with people to find their path on their own healing journey and to assist them in any way I can. I truly love practicing these two holistic healing modalities. Looking back now, and in remembering how my friend said I had the gift of healing; I am able to see that observation in a different light. The gift I have is the desire to help people, if in helping people they find healing changes, then I suppose it becomes a gift of healing. I’d love to try and help you find peace in whatever way that means to you. I look forward to talking with you soon.
